Otwell. led Crom start to Cinish in the Cirst moto, while Smith took second. But in the all-important. tie-breaking second moLO, Smith did what he had to do and that was to win the unal round to take the overall. hall started in the Cirst moto when 13 riders stormed into the Cir tLUrn. It was Smith taking the boleshot, but Otwell had the lead aCter the end oC the Cirst lap when Smith bailed and dropped back LO Sixth place. Chasing Otwell were Mark Fisher (Honda), Ernest Reusch (Honda), Mike Shea (Honda), Kyle Vestermark (Yamaha) and Smith. But all eyes were Cocused on Smith who began his drive through the pack and up to the Cront runners. By the sixth lap, Smith had taken over the second-place posilion but slill had some ground to make up on the leader, Otwell, with two laps LO go. Time ran out Cor Smith, however, as Otwell and his Suzuki took the win ahead oC Smith, JeH Camgrigg ( uzuki). Fisher, Shea and ]eH Blackmore (Honda). With the overall still up for grabs, Smith smoked his Honda into the lead ahead of Otwell, Fisher, Camgrigg, Ken Hudnell (Kawasaki) and Blackmore, The battle for the lead was intense with Otwell chasing Smith the whole way. Camgrigg slipped his Suzuki into third place during the second lap and stayed there throughout the moto. Crossing the checkered flag in the lead with the overall in the bag was Smith, Collowed by Otwell and Camgrigg. Fisher and Shea took Courth and fifth overall. Seventeen riders lined the starting gate in the I25cc'Beginner class. and when the dust had settled, it was Honda 'rider Brent Palkovic riding to a flawless I-I tally to claim the overall.
