He took the overall with wire-to-wire wins in both motos. for the lead. The ballle was pretty much .over, then neither Hecox or Canepa made a challenge on Green for the lead. At one time, though Canepa did manage to get around Hecox for second but later slowed when Hecox passed him while doing a Flying-W. Green's charge was now for the 350s and 500s. He closed on Fred· Mork's BSA and could see his handling problem. "It danced everywhere," said Green, "I thought he was going to unload a number of 'times." In traffic entering turn II, the three-lap battle between Mork and Green was over, Green took Mork on the inside, thus setting his sights on the BSA of Dan Phillips. However, the 250 was unable to gain enough ground for a pass in one lap, as the checker came out next time around, leaving Green the 250cc winner and sixth overall behind Phillips, but ahead of the other 500s and 350s farther back.
