Jimmy Button (50J) and Shane Trittler (101) enter tum one in the Mini Expert class, CMe/Dodge Dakota Trans-Cal MX Series: Round Ie Myerscough takes two at Baylands By Troy Scott " FREMONT, CA, SEPT. 28 California Motosport Club's Dodge Dakota-, sponsored Trans-Cal Series went to Baylands Raceway for round four and Yamahamounted Brian Myerscough won both the 6 125 and 250cc classes in convincing slyIe. The 500cc class 1 I Jeff Slanton. lO Yamaha pilol viclory went Myerscough, making his first appearance on a 250, tOok his Yamaha to the checkered in each moLO finishing with a I-I tally; Myerscough will miss round five of the series at Carlsbad Raceway when he travels to Italy to race. Second and third place in the 250cc class wem to StantOn and Tommy Wans, respectively. Myerscough's l25cc win wasn't as easy, however, as Willy Surrall was unstOppable in the first moto and Myerscough ended up third. Moto twO was all Myerscough as he jumped out to a huge lead and never looked back; Surrall finished third and Myerscough's 3-l topped the Honda pilot's l-3. Third overall in the 125cc class went to Yamaha-mounted Bader Manneh. Stanton's overall in the 500cc class was hard earned as he fought with WallS in both motos. Stanton's 2-1 took the overallĀ· over WalLS' 1-2. Honda rider Willy Simons walked away with third overall with his. 3-4 ride. When the backwards falling gate fell for the starL of the first 125cc motO; 29 riders shot down the shorL straight and stuffed their way into a tight left-handed turn into a series of 10, evenly-spaced washboards. Yamaha-supported Michael Craig successfully made it through the hectic first turn followed by Myerscough and Yamaha-mounted Todd DeHoop. As Craig set a blistering pace in the l(:ad, Myerscough was six seconds back in second. Surran, meanwhile, was passing riders at an increclible pace; Ty Davis held third with Manneh charging from behind, followed by Dennis Parker and Kyle Lewis. Coming down the long back straight Surratt moved up on Manneh and left the throttle pinned over the inside of a jump while Manneh was already on the brakes. Surratt landed with about 10 feet to spare and shot by Manneh for third place. With . Craig and Myerscough seven seconds ahead, Surratt rode I;ke a wild man making up rime everywhere on the track while closing on the leaders. The twO riders were with.in inches of each other when Surratt set up Myerscough in the same manner he had disposed of Manneh. Surratt began closing in on Craig and the duo soon began a tussle to the finish. Surran dove under Craig as the two rocketed out of a turn and Craig's ensueing assaults never became a threat to the Honda rider. Surratt held on for the win over Craig and Myerscough. MotO twowimessed Bryan Brunner jamming his way to the front of the field followed by Manneh, Myerscough, Rich Truchinski and Craig. Surrall was involved in a pile-up and / was dead last. Manneh then passed Brunner anu moved into the lead. On the same lap Myerscough also got by and started work.ing on Manneh. Fourth and fifth were being controlled by Craig and Lewis. By lap five nothing had changed, but Surratt was now all the way up to sixth and- working on Lewis and Craig. Surratt 'moved up on Lewis and attempted a pass, Lewis nailed the brakes to block as Craig wem high and Surratt squared off the turn and passed them both to take over foUrth place. Up from Myerscough was finally able to get past Manneh over the table top, while on the same lap, Surran passed Brunner. In fifth after' passing Craig, Lewis was right up on Brunner who was starling to fade. Lewis and then Craig both passed Brunner. Surratt was gaining on Manneh, _ but he ran out of time as the race
