Alan Andreu jammed out from to lead Tichenor and Alan Crum imo me turn at the start of the first 250cc A class moLO with a midpack pileup behind them. Tichenor wasted no time charging into the lead, but did nOl pull away. DeVane worked his way up from a poor Slart to ride in third and then LOok advamage of Andreu's mislake and cruised into second. Tichenor pulled ahead as mey worked their way through slower rider LO go in for the win wim DeVane, Andreu, Crum and Jim Royko following in that order. Andreu nailed the early lead in moLO two as John Rheinholt and Crum pushed from behind. Tichenor made his way up through me pack and dove LO ihe inside to lake over me lead midmoLO. DeVane slaTted to make his way forward, but packed it in after two laps because his back was bothering him from an inj ury received in the 125cc moLO. Tichenor wem in for the win with Andreu, Rheinholt, Grum and Jon McCabe rounding out the top five. Martin and Rugar came off the line together in me first heat and jockeyed for first place for six laps. Screaming towards the finish line it was Martin's Honda and Rugar's Suzuki side-by-side, wheel-LOwheel. Just second before crossing me line, Rugar's bike appeared to have gOllen a slight surge in power and managed to squeeze out in from of Martin's bike by mere inches. Track judges said the photo-finish proved LO be the closest dirt bike race of the season at Dirt Track. Rugar beat Martin by less than four inches, the judges noted. In the second heat, Martin came out of the hole in first place and held the first place lot umi I me fourth lap, when Rugar managed LO squeeze by the Honda to take another win when the checkered flag dropped. Honda-powered Marty Donivan once again took the checkered flag riding a w.heelie LO a first place victory in the 81-125cc Expert dirt bike class. In the second heat of the class, Randy Dow riding an 80cc Kawasaki fought for econd place with Ralph Eckardt. Dow managed to fight o[f Eckardt for six laps, but it just proved to be too much [or me little Kawasaki. I partIIIg Is SHIPPENSBURG, PA, SEPT. 7 Over 350 riders signed up to do some heavy-duty racing at Hideaway MX, and in the 250 and 125cc Expert classes, Rick Pinney Jr. collected the victories after racking up a 2-1 score in the 250s, and sweeping the 125s. In me first 250cc Expert moto, Pinney had LO come from behind before taking the lead, while Dave Wolfkill hounded him the whole way. But as the two leaders came up to lapped riders, Wolfkilltook advantage of the situation by finding the trick line around Pinney. Pinney stayed close LO WoIfkill for the rest of the race, but it was WoIfkilI taking me first moLO win. Round two action saw Pinney come from behind again, but this time the outcome was different from the first. Pinney eventually found his way into the lead and developed a healthy distance over WoIfkil1. At the finish, it was Pinney taking the tie-breaking, second-moLO win ahead of WoIfkilI, thus, claiming the overall. Pinney's day didn 'c end there, either. He also dominated both motos in the I 25cc Expert class for his second class win of the day.
