Dukes, Jimison score at Ball GroundMX By Gary Crider BALL GROUND, GA, SEPT. 14 Round two of the Georgia Cycle Supply Fall Series saw Sean Dukes earn top cash in both 125cc A motos while Brad Jimi- 30 s~n romped LO wins in the 125 and 250cc C divisions. Dukes, who made the move from 80cc LO I25cc machinery last January., has now graduated to the A class after a strong showing in 125cc B competition at the Loretta Lynn/ AMA Nationals in August. Dukes holeshot and easily won the first I25i:c A moLO and came back in the final moto to win despite a mediocre s'tart; Dukes has a perfect 100-point record in. the series thus far. Kawasaki of Rome's Mike Crane came from midpack both times for a pair of seconds over Georgia Cycle Supply/O'Neal-backed Tommy Martin. In 250cclOpen A action Joe Rogers went 2-2 to earn top honors while Ricky Young and Martin took a moto win each, netting second and third overall, respectively. Due to an overflow of entries in the· I25cc C class, qualifying moLOS had to be run. Jeff Browning and Brad Jimison WOIjI their respective qualifiers and Jimison went on to win the final over Gary Graham and Paul Cline. Jimison took over the series point lead by virtue of his win. Freewheeling Honda's Jimison sliced through traffic in the first 250cc C moto and battled past leader Marc Waddle in the second for an eventual I-I tally over fellow Honda riders Waddle and Gregg Lunsford. Both 125cc B motos saw Kenny Kizzar chase Todd Neal from start to finish. Neal was never headed, however, and took both wins over Kizzar. Tennessee's 'Kizzar came back in the 250cc B class LO easily win both motos while Jason Coleman edged Bryan J erigen in a tied score for second. . Kirk Grissom holeshot both Open B motos and never looked back en route to a pair of runaway wins over Chad Young. Middleford ST win to .Collings By Woody Miller SEAFORD, DE, SEPT. 18 Suzuki rider Ray Collings made it two in a row after capturing the 250cc final win at Middleford Speedway's weeKly short track in Seaford. In the final, Collings led heat winner Mark Miller into turn one with Howard Irvine, Jeff Selivan and Scott Hovatter in tow. Collings and Miller .opened up a gap between them and the rest of the field, while Irvine and Salivan ran nose to tail with Hovatter a few yards back. By the fourth lap, Collings began to pull away from Miller, who was experiencing some handling problems. Collings was a half-a-Iap ahead by lap nine, while Irvine and Salevan caught Miller. At the checkered £lag, it was Collings Laking the convincing win with Miller holding on to second place. Irvine and Salevan finished third and fourth. Scott Hovatter won his first-ever feature race topping the I25cc final, while Cam Bartlett won the 500cc feature event over Mark Miller and Tom Kiselnicki. Results 125: 1. Pinkstaff cleans up at Portland RR By Russ Cazier / PORTLAND, OR, SEPT. 14 Keith Pinkstaff repea~ed his performance from the last Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association meet at Portland International Raceway by winning all three classes he entered, Open Production, F-l and Superbike. A tuning error by Canadian Tom Walther (too much rear tire pressure) in the first heat of Open Production caused a fifth place finish for Walther and in the final heat Pinkstaff was able to cruise in second behind Walther for the overall win. . Superbike, however, was a Pink,staff/Walther duel with the issue s\ill in doubt in the second heat, but Walther crashed two laps from the end trying to repass Pinkstaff in turn one. "I made my move one lap before the white flag," Pinkstaff said. "I drafted and passed going into turn one, and we were immediately into lapped traffic. Tom tried to take it right back on the inside but got tangled with arider in front of us and they both wl,'ntdown. Tom was really fast today, and I wouldn't guarantee I could have beaten him." Walther's crash moved Dan Zlock to second for a 1-2 finish in Superbike for Zlock Racing. Bellevue Suzuki-sponsored Joe Pittman prevailed over a large and· talented field in 750cc Production for the other big chunk of Suzuki money; and Mike Johnson led from start to finish to make it four out of five wins· in the .Interceptor Challenge class this year at PIR. Ward Rodgers took an easy win in Open BoTT. His main GOmpetition, Dick Winningstad, blew up his Cagiva in practice. Rodgers anp his BMW now have a seven race win string, the best in OMRRA. Abersold burns Zoar Valley Enduro By Charles Davis ZOAR VALLEY, NY, SEPT. 21 Like all the D-4 enduros held this year, wet weather played an important role at the Zoar Valley Enduro, in which Husqvarna-mounted Rudy Abersold 'dropped just three points and went home with his second Grand Championship trophy of the 1986 season. With this win, Abersold has a chance LO dethrone D-4 champ Ray Davis in series points with two rounds remammg. Steve Mickelson and his Openclass Husky narrowly defeated Davis for high-point A honors. Both riders tied with four points, but Mickelson emerged on LOp with emergency seconds.
