II Camel Pro rider Bob Sweeten made his fir t appearance this year count as he_captured both the 250 and 500cc finals in the weekly short track. Sweeten held off Roy Collings' advances after 125cc feature winner Rob Smith was disqualified for not taking the cool off lap. Mark Miller put his Honda into third to round out the field. Smith cored a decisive win in the 125cc feature over Scott Hovatter, who inherited second when Jeff Caudill was overcome by mechanical woes. Results 125: ,. Rob Smith (Bul); 2. Two for Faria at Ventura Spdwy By Bill Locey VENTURA, CA, SEPT. 9 For the fir ttime ever, Ventura Raceway ran a quarter-mile speedway show. For "Flyin' Mike" Faria, the winningest rider ever at Ventura, it was business as usual. Faria won both mains (or the third time this year, giving him 52 career wins on a TUl'sday night. Young Billy Hamill was kading his Handicap emi when he lost il around turn three, did a 360, and crashed hard.
