Colorado. Lipscomb wins Lawrence ST By Steven E. Smith LAWRENCEBURG, IN, SEPT. 12 Dave "The Lipp" Lipscomb did it right in Pro-Am racing this week as he finished on top in a feature that required threerestarts. Lipscomb managed to keep last week's winller Grady Phillips behind him and riding a hard lhird was a new rider to the track, Rick Giovannetti. Phil Palmer took his usual place out front in the 80 cand I25cc classes, leaving the competition to fight it out for second and third. Indianapolis rider Dan Dotson took second in the 80cc class, holding back Tony Rosemeyer. Pat Benrle of Cincinnati took up the slack, finishing second in the 125cc catagory while Tim 'Gayle pulled up third. In the 250cc action, Phi II ips came back to repeat himself with another win. Gayle refused to give and made Grady earn his victory as he took second. Benrle was third. The Open class is another chance for many of the arne hot hoes from the Pro·Am to how their tuff and Phillips has been showing his out front in the Open more than any other this year. Second went to Phil Jones. Heand his brother EnireJones both had their trouble with track conditions this week. Lipscomb hung around for a third pot finish. Open B class is for riders who arc trying their wings before moving up with the experienced riders. but the intensity and determination is ap· parent as they ride hard for the wire. Keith Vanessen rode out front keeping Lawrenceburg rider George Collins in second. Mike Farmer finished third.
