I Advanced class action saw Mike Carlton lead both days to win with a 132, Bob TiU chased and held second at 144. Mike Meschede, Jerry Tate and Mark Hitechew traded positions each day and it was Tate, Hitechew and Meschede at the finish. In the Intermediate ranks, Shane Weckerly was way out front on day one to hold off Mark Makarov for the win despite the lauer's better showing on day two. Don Card had a bad second outing to fall to third while Jim Hunter moved up from sixth to fourth. Pat Fox was fifth. John Lenon was the only Senior Intermediate to make it through both days for the win. Novices Kurt Roll and Sam Martin were tied after the first day behind Bob Stanley, but day two saw Roll score the win ahead of Martin and Stanley. Jeff Seifert and Doug Ceshel were tied for fourth at day one's conclusion with Seifert fourth at the finish ahead of Ceshel. Senior Novices Mike Vanaman and John Collins traded the best score each day. Vanaman took the win and Steve Hell was third and last finisher. Junior trialing was won both days by Jimmy Collins over Lee Pennington, Kenny Bridges and Tom Estew. With DARYL ATKINS perrenial speedsters David Copeland and Willie Bewley missing, the race seemed open for surprises as to who would cash in. Keith Case was first to turn one, but Brian Isbell was leading at the end of lap one. Isbell's bike lost power, giving the lead to Cartwright. Case, Todd Reynolds, Lee McAnally and the malfunctioning bike of Isbell followed. . Mike Hoel led the entire distance in the Open Amateur feature,leaving the baules to the back of the pack. In fact, that is where the ony passing occurred. Ray Arnold and Denny Sowders passed Brian Wedlake on the fourth circuit for fifth and sixth. Billy McLaughlin doubled again this week, ridirig his 60cc Kawasaki to wins in both the 60cc and 125cc Amateur classes. Eddie Boback passed Carl Nickell on the last lap only to have Nickell return the favor in the 250cc Amateur class.
