HosPITal STOP: Scott Mohan, the
Pro-Am dirt tracker injured seriously during a turn four crash at
the September 7, Syracuse Mile,
recently was released from Krause
Irving Memorial Hospital, and is
convalescing at home. According
to Mohan's father, Larry, the young
racer is recovering from head injuries, as well as stretched nerves
in an injured shoulder. In reference
to his son's alertness, the elder

Hawaiian Speedway Championship which will take place in Honolulu's Aloha Stadium on February

'87 Camel Pro Series

The American Motorcyclist Association and R.J. Reynolds announced
Sunday that the 1987 Camel Pro Series will consist of 18 events,
nine dirt track races and nine road races. A total of $475,000, an
increase of $200,000 over this year's Camel Pro point fund, will be
paid to competitors via a $160,000 point fund and a new series of
events, five-lap Camel Challenge races that will involve the top six
qualifiers at each Camel Pro event. The Camel Challenge events will
pay outa total of $315,000, $17,500 at each of the 18 events with
the winner of each collecting $10,000.
The AMA and R.J. Reynolds have inked a three-year contract and
the contract provides R.J. Reynolds with an option to renew for two
more years. The contract also contains an exclusivity clause that
prevents advertising by any smoking tobacco manufacturer other
than R.J. Reynolds at Camel Pro Series events.

Ron Hendrickson has announced
that the NMA has contracted to
hold their annual Grand National
MX Championship meet at Ponca
City, Oklahoma, through 1990.
The 1987 event will be held August
2-9. In addition, the NMA has
announced that the 16th Annual
Kawasaki World Mini GP will be
held in Las Vegas, Nevada, the
weekend of April 17-19, 1980. •
Police
recoverbikes
stolen at San
Jose Mile

Police in San Jo e, California,
recently recovered two motorcycles to1en September 14 from
an all eged security parking area
at the anta Clara County Fairgrounds during the AMAiCamel Pro
Series, Honda San Jose Mile. At least
one stolen bike, however, has not
been recovered and police doubt it
ever will be found.
The motorcycles were taken [rom
an area reportedly called the "AMA
Corral" sometime between 4:30 and
5:30 p.m., (about the time the National
main event was being held), according to 'a pokesman for the San Jose
Police Department. A 1984 Kawasaki
Ninja, and a 1986 Yamaha (model
undis losed) were recovered within
hours of the thefts, but there are no
clues to the whereabouts of a 1985
inja owned by Michael Dingley of
Fremont (California) Cycle Center.
"According to the report, there are
no suspects listed, the case has not
been assigned, and we have no leads,"
said police when asked to describe the
status of the Dingley case.
"At least three motorcycles were
taken and two arrests were made,"
police said. "We can't tell you whether
there were more thefts or not. There
may have been, but they're not crossreferenced to these cases. "
