Price takes Middleford ST By Woody Miller SEAFORD, DE, AUG. 30 Georgie Price remained the dominate force at Middleford Speedway as the newly-crowned AMA Grand National 250cc Amateur champion swept all three finals for the second time this year. Price lOok a convincing win in the 125cc final over fellow New Jersian Tom Magee with Harold Sursey and SCOll Hovatter rounding out the lOp four. Price then gated in the 250cc final and was never headed as he led the up andcomingSursey, who nipped Roy Collings at the line for second while Mark Miller held off a determined Rick Johnson to finish fourth. Price got revenge on his uncle Bobby Sweeten, who had put a move on his nephew to win the heat. Price repaid the compliment in the final as he went under Sweeten to take the 500cc final for a perfea night. Results 125: ,. Georgie Price (Kow); 2. Tom Mogee(Bul); . Herold Dorsey (Vam). 250: 1. Dean, Cutts dominate Thunder CreekMX By Joe Underwood HIGH FALLS, GA, AUG. 30 Mini riders turned out in large numbers to create the most competitive event at the Thunder Creek Motocross Series event today. In the first Mini Expert event, Johnny Dean (Suz) and Charlie CullS (Kaw) led the pack and ran fender-tofender with Dean in front for the full seven laps; Cutts came within inches of passing at the checkered flag but settled for second. In the second moto, the two pulled away from the pack with Cutts finally taking the lead as they started to lap slower riders. Then CUllS' momentum pushed him past a slower rider at a dangerous "no pass zone," costing him a one-position penalty. Cu tts crossed the finish line first only to receive another second and second overall to Dean's I-I wins for first overall. In the 125cc Novice class, series point leader Dustin Futral got the holeshot in the first moto and proceeded to run away from the pack. At the haI£way point, Futral developed chain/sprocket problems and dropped to sixth place, leaving second-place rider J eH White lO take the first molO. In the second molO, Futral, still wi(h problems, ran with a close pack involvin~ Gabe Gaddis, Bobby Hearn, and Mike Murdock. All four were in close competition all the way to the seventh lap. The finish had Gabbis 'first, Futral second, and Murdock third. Gaddis (4-1) had the best total for the overall victory. Results TINVTOTS: 1. Zock Danner (Klw); 2. Dovid Dishman (Kaw); 3. Buchli, Atkins crowned in GreeleySX u o By Larry Johnson GREELEY, CO, AUG. 23 Tonight saw two SRAC Supercross titles for 1986 decided as Tim Buchli took the 125cc Pro championship and Andy Atkins, won the 80cc Experts title. Buchli came into the evening tied for the 125cc Pro points lead with ebraskan LeeVern Berry. A usual and certain showdown appeared jeopardized in the heats as neither had their typical success. Buchli qualified with a third while Berry crashed and had to go to the Last Chance Qualifier, which he won. When the pack cleared turn one Bill Stork was on top with BuchE, Mark Flesia and Berry in lOW. 01) lap three, Berry had moved into second and the championship battle was as closea it would get. Buchli took over the lead on the next circuit while Kip Sandell was on the move and came all the way to second as Berry overtook Stork for third. Berry remained in contention for the final half of the moto, but Sandell kept him at bay. He was never able to get up to second and challenge Buchli. Buchli., the 1985 outdoor champ, added his second SRAC title lO hi's trophy case. Atkins has dominated the 80cc Experts during the supercross series, and he lOok another overall on his way to the title. South Dakotan James Fuller travelled to Colorado for the first time and a first molO crash kept him from a victory. After leading most of round one, he bailed and finis~ed sixth while Atkins captured the wm. George Peasley led most of moto twO, but bobbled with two laps lO go. Fullerand Atkins were directly behind and took advantage of the mistake moving into hrstand second. Despite tremendous pressure from Atkins the rest of the way, Fuller never became ra ttled and took the victory. He earned second overall behind Atkins. • What's happening? *"* • ~ LOWEST PRICES ANYWHERE -r' iC * FOR USED CAR, TRUCK & MOTORCYCLE PARTS Proud SponSOl'S of Results 60 NOV: 1. Ryon Libsock (Kaw); 2.
