CA (213)t2WOI7 both the 125 and 250cc Expert classes. Mike Harris reigned supreme in the Open Expert class, taking both motos handily. John Sulewsky grabbed the holeshot at the start of the first 250cc Expert moto with Jim Triantis Jr. breathing down his neck. Lachowicz and Lance Eubank were close behind followed by Rick Pinney Jr. and Mike Harris. Eubank put his Kawasaki to work and pushed past Lachowicz and Su lewsky to talc.e the lead. By the end' of the second lap, Lachowicz and Pinney also passed Sulewsky for second and third; a broken throttle cable sidelined Harris. Eubank started to pull away, but Lachowicz latched on and turned on the pressure. Eventually, Eubank yielded and Lachowicz took com· mand, running away to win by II seconds. Eubanks held on to second and Pinney claimed third.. At the start of the second 250cc Expert moto, Lachowicz momentar· ily shared the holeshot with Sonny Mjtchell, a superfast senior rider who decided to mix it up with "the kids." Mitchell surprised Lachowicz by taking the lead on the first lap. Lachowicz regained his composure and passed Mitchell, but the senior racer didn't give,up easily, and hounded Lachowicz all around the track. Pinney was in third followed by Craig Peterson, Sulewsky and Mickey Pentoney. Pinney moved up to give Mitchell a run for his money, and the two of them let Lachowicz getaway. Pinney finally got around Mitchell, but Lachowicz was long gone. Lachowicz went on to win by six seconds with Pinney cruising in for second. Mitchell hung on for third, Pentoney moved up to fourth and Peterson took fifth. In the 125ccExpenclass, TIOyBanh stormed into the first turn under heavy pressure from Trey Wilkinson. Barth got a little too excited and lowsided early in the first lap, taking Wilkinson out with him. Kevin McCanhy found the first opening around the pile-up and ran off with the lead followed by Jeff Cook, Doug Scheller, Greg Clarke and Mickey Pen toney. By the end of the third lap, Mc-' Canby held a pretty healthy lead while Pentoney worked his way up to second followed by Cook, Scheller and Steve Wilkerson. Lachowicz moved up to sixth from a bad start. McCarthy was flying, but was looking a little rough. Pentoney was steadily closing the gap, and was knocking on McCarthy's door in a couple of laps. Meanwhile, Cook, Scheller, Lachowicz and Rick Pinney Jr. were in the midst of a free-for-all for third. Pinney came out on top with Lachowicz on his tail. Soon Pinney and Lachowicz caught up to Pemoney and- McCarthy, and the lead was up lor grabs. Lachowicz kicked out the jams and swooped past all three riders on the eighth lap. McCarthy made a bid to retake the lead. pulling alongside Lachowicz near the scorer's booth, but Lachowicz roosted away to take the win. Pemoney and Pinney also passed the' fading McCarthy to take second and third. Scheller cruised in for fifth. A rejuvenated McCarthy blasted off the line, talc.ing an uncontested holeshot a t the start of the second l25cc Expert moto. Shortly after the start, five riders went down, leaving Pemoney stranded at the back of the pack. McCarthy pulled out a big lead on the first lap. Lachowicz was in second and was being chased by Steve Simpson, Greg Clarke, Judd Huck and Pinney. Pinney quickly put the motor on Huck, Clarke and Simpson to take third. McCarthy's win was good for second overall as Lachowicz's second clinched the overall win. Pinney took third,Scheller fourth and Clarl<.e was fifth. Results 125 A: 1. M.'" I-echowicz (Kew); 2.
