Bub grabs Mid-Ohio RR wins By Bob Applegate LEXI GTON, OH, AUG. 9-10 John Eidenburger, Pete Frost and Alex Bub all took wins in round four of Championship Cup eries Pro-Am sprint racing at Mid-Ohio today. Saturday's heat racing put Alex Bub's Harley-David on Olll in front of brother Bob Bub for a pole position in unday's Formula Twins final, and did a repeat performance in the' Super Twins qualifier, Over 30 RZ350s gridded for the RZ Challenge with Scoll Reavis beating out David Leppelmier in the Expert ranks and fast Novice Tom Kipp leading the Novices across the stripe. Leppelmier returned in the Lightweight Superbike two heat to lead a giant field of RZs across the line with Kipp picking up another front row starting position. Joe elson set himself for pole position starts by twice beating out Carl :\1uffley in Formula One and Unlimited Superbike qualifiers, but 1uffley struck back in the Heavyweight heat in some of the be tracing of the day, edging out elson for that pole position. Virginia's Joe elson made his tire changes and cruised 10 vinory picking up Yamaha and CC money for a first in the Unlimited uperbike race and seuled for point and CCS purse for the win in Formula One, while Mike Watko and Eidenburger diced for second and third. Finally Eidenburger got around Watko and closed the gap on the leader Nelson. At the finish it was Nelson by one half bike length as the two hydroplaned down the front straight for the checkered. Eidenburger sprang back with a victory over elson in Heavyweight Superbike, picking up extra points and cash for the Pro-Am Series win. Swapping to an FZ600 the young rider rode his Yamaha of Port Washington's entry to a convincing win over John Reardon in Middleweight Superbike Expert. Kipp picked up Novice points a hedoubled with wins in Lightweight Superbike two and the RZ Challenge on his Wiesco/Northridge Yamaha span 'ored RZ350. Kipp also bagged a second on F-2 Novice finishing just behind Shawn Nicoloff's Honda 500. Wicks wins Stratford Enduro By' Dennis Murphy STRATFORD, lA, AUG. 10 Peter Wicks was the overall AA winner at the' CIER Enduro. Wick be ted 108 other riders on a perfect Sunday with temperatures in the low 70s and bright sunshine leading the way. Conditions were opposite those of the club's earlier race this year, but clever checks and an ac\ditional A rider loop kept scores high and made everyone work for every last point. The AA class is haping up into a rough baule with four or five riders stiIJ really close in points. Peter Wicks completely reversed hi first enduro's core earlier this year from fifth to overall, howing that he is very much one of Iowa's top woods riders. The consistency award, however, goes to Willie Van lee on his Yamaha, pulling in two seconds 0 far. Dennis Murphy. was third overall, narrowly edging Chuck Craig of Urbandale, Iowa on his XC Hu kyo Allan Wicks bested the 200cc A class with Tom Eller right behind him.
