Wollaston dominated molO one, but White gated right behind him in molO twO and slayed close until midmOlO.ln molO three, White beat WollaslOn to the first turn, and it took WollaslOn three laps to get by. On day two, Whitewas never more than two bike lengths behind WollaslOn during round four. On the final round, WollaslOn beat White lo turn one, then White staJled his bike in a tight left-hander. White's hopes of capturing at least one vicLOry seemed lost, then Wollaston accommodated White's chances by stalling his own machine a few turns later. The twOsome went handlebar-lO-handlebar for the next three laps, then WollasLon tried to go outside for the pass on a downhill left hander and stalled in a loose berm. White was pulling away by mid-molO, but crashed when he washed out on a fast, downhill sweeper, allowing WollaslOn to ride by and take his fifth win unchallenged. Duane Spence enjoyed a imilar five-moLO 'sweep in the Expen cia s. He had no problems in the fir t two rounds, but had LO chase down Dennis Ro enberg in moLO three and Don Swearingen in the last round. But molO four was where he showed his determination.
