urt McMillen usually goes
aster in the mud than he does
n a dry track, and he proved it
gain 'today when he swept
our muddy motos at Southwoods
X, capturing overall wins in both
he 125cc and Open Expert classes.
cMillen must have been grinning
rom ear-to-ear the day before the
ace, when the skies opened up and
ropped a deluge on SoutbwoOOs,
eaving the course a muddy mess.
McMillen smoked both 125cc Exert motos, building a big lead both
'mes, then coasting to victory. Kurt
enzland's second overall came via a
-4 finish in the two motos, just edgg third place jeff Dirago's 2-5. Dirgo and Renzland were in the middle
f a four-way ballie for second in the
'nal moto, with Dirago gelling secnd off the line and holding it more
an five laps. Renzland pushed him
ard for three laps before sliding out
nd leaving the door open for Eddie
ao and Chris Brynildsen to slip by
nd chase Dirago.
For two more laps, Dirago withtoOO the pressure, but on lap six the
iders did a major swap in the back
ection and Dirago came out of the
ray in fifth place. Bao had moved
nto second, Brynildsen took third
nd Renzland was back up to fourth;
hat was the way they finished a lap
ater. Bao's 7-2 was good for fourth
verall but Brynildsen had a 13th in
he first moto·and had to settle for
ighth overall. SCOll jacob had his
st ride this year with a 4-5 that gave
im fifth overall.
McMillen's two victories' in the
pen Expert class came a lot harder.

way from the pack. But while Mcean was always within sLTiking disnce, he never got past McMillen.
ike Spear had a pair of thirds and
oug Mitchell claimed a pair of

McLean took the overall victory in

pear, after placing second in the
pening moto, saw his chances for
e overall disappear when he went
own in the first corner of the second
ace. He remounted, then moved
rough the pack to finish third, givg him third overall behind McLean
nd Decker. Decker's win in the second
oto was his first of the season in the
50cc class; he finished third in the
pening heat.
Mike Boucher made one of his rare
ppearances in the Senior Expert
lass, and recorded impressive I-I
OlOS. Tom Salandra was another
ho found the muddy track to his
