Adamo triples at Summit Point RR By Sam Backus SUMMIT POINT, WV, JULY 26-.27 A very hot and humid road race at Summit Point resulted in several double winners and one triple winner. Despite sticky weather and slippery asphalt, there was plenty of high-speed, heavy-duty racing at the AMA Championship Cup Pro-Am. Theonly triple winner for the weekend was Team Leoni's Jimmy Adamo. Adamo made his appearance with two Ducatis, a 900cc and a 750cc, and took the wins in the Supenwins, Formula Twins and Middleweight uperbike finals. Stuart Beatson and Bill Dietz followed Adamo to the checkers in both the Superrwins and Formula Twins races. Adamo topped Kevin Renrzell and Dave Leppelmeier in the Middleweight ranks. Rentzell was the winner in the Formula Two event in front of Leppelmerier and Joey Whittington. Leppelmeier dominated the small bore ranks with his very fast Yamaha RZ350. Leppelmeier emerged victorious in the RZ Challenge, Leppelmeier was pursued by John Reardon and John Lowman until Reardon crashed in the closing laps, forcing Lowman off the course, and handing second and third to Jason Kahley and David Murray. Lowman and Murray LOok the Lightweight II trophies behind Leppelmeier. Novice rider Blaine Paulus rode well during the weekend and carded first Novice honors in the Formula Twin and upertwins events and also was third Novice in Lightweight 1I behind Tad Stepek and Mark Long. The big bore classes were swap fests in the Expert Formula One, Heavyweight and Unlimited classes. The Formula One final went to Chris Hughes followed by Ron Attalian, Joe elson, Chris Marrone and Jim Tribou. Tribou turned the tables in Heavyweight with Hughes and Nelson in tow and won the Unlimited race over Nelson and Martone. The Unlimited and Heavyweight Novice events went to Glenn Szarek, with Donny Briggs in second and Andrew Hare third. The Formula Two Novice honors went to Brian Gristick, chased by Doug Tosten and Sterling Strauser. In the Middleweight Novice event, Tosten traded places with Gristick while Strauser maintained in third. Results FORM. TWINS EX: 1. Jimmy Adamo (Due); 2. Stuart Beatson (BMW); 3. Bill Oietz (Ouc).
