Jetton combined a 2-1 malO finish for the overall, beating another Suzuki rider Jon Berg (3-2) and first-malO winner Rick Gasper and his Honda. in the first malO. Yam'aha-mounted Craig Momy slOle the holeshot ahead of Suzuki pilot Danny Alvarez, Mimo Pallaccia (Yamaha), Berg, JelLon, Will Dickson (Kawasaki) and Ron Bechard. Jeuon, however, was on the gas and found his way inlO the third sPOt by the end of the first lap. A lap later, Jeuon jammed inlO second, and a lap after that, JetlOn and his Suzuki were leading the way. But sneaking up through the field was Gasper, who had a nimh-place start. By the halfway point, Gasper was third, pressuring second place Berg, Late in the race, Gasper had taken over the number two position and was selling his sights on leader Jetton, During the final lap, Gasper found his way into the lead and crossed the checkered flag out in front. Jettson took second followed by Berg, Richard Meraghty, Mike Robbins, Dickson and Bechard, In the second moto, BechaTd motored his Kawasaki into the lead ahead of Monty, Berg, Jellon, Robbins, Gasper and Dickson, Jetton repeated his first-moto performance by taking over the lead by the third lap. Berg claimed second on the same lap, and the two Suzuki riders led for the rest of the mota, Jetton captured the overall, while Berg took second. Gasper salvaged a fifth in the second moto, giving him third. Team Green Kawasaki rider Tony Strangio slayed the 250cc intermediates with double-malO wins, Strangio's nearest competitor was Suzuki-mounted Kevin Montgomery, who sailed 10 second-place finishes in each outing to claim second overalL Third went to Honda rider Chad Sman. John Singlt'tary rode his Yamaha to a 1-2 malO victory in the 125cc Intt'rmediatt' class, beating Buddy Morgan's consistent 2-3 lally.
