David Ellis, John Gore and Robert Goldsborough managed double-moto wins in their respective classes at round four of Dade CilY Raceway's Mike's Yamaha-sponsored Summer MX Series. Harold Malhews nailed the win in lhe special half-lime race sponsored by Mike's Yamaha. The 17 riders lucky enough logel signed up for lhe special event lhrilled the crowd as lhey rode the track in the opposile direclion for five laps. Senior class rider Gore look lhe lead Wilh David Ellis, Cliff Giles and Malhews following. Malhews charged on Giles lO move into 'lhird, bUIlhey bolh wenl down inslead. Gore pulled way OUl fronl Ihen he losl il,.giving up the lead lO Yamaha-moumed Giles. While aClion up from was hOl and heavy, Malhews was causing heal of his own by slicing through the pack. He moved' up to ride ~ind the leader lhen darted ahead. Mathews rode Wilh the lhrollle wide open; he found lillIe difficulty cruising around slower riders. Giles was righl behind him, but Malhews crossed the finish line firsl lO claim the win. SCol Salkill worked his way up from a poor Slan lO ride in second until di.sasler struck and he ended up pushing his bike across the finish line in' lasl place.
