Melton tops Sport ConceptMX By Susan Willian TERRE HAUTE, IN, JULY 19 ----- Mark Melton earned the overall win in the 250cc A class at tonight's C&S Sport Concept's motocross, held at Pro Caliber Raceway, near Terre Haute. Rod MarshaJl, Robert Motsinger, Billy Davis and Melton contested the lead in the first 250cc A moto. Motsinger passed early-leader Marshall to take over the top spot, while Melton and Davis followed in third and fourth, respectively. Motsinger nearly dumped it in the washboard section trying to get around a lapped rider, but held on to maintain his lead, while Melton closed the gap. Melton stole the lead from Motsinger on the final go-around, demoting Motsinger to second. Davis trailed across the finish line in third. The second moto went to Davis with Melton taking second. Melton won the overall with a 1-2 score. Davis was second overall with a 3-1, and Motsinger earned third overal!. Billy Fosnock took the hoishot in the first 125cc A moto, with Marshall, Davis, Mike Larocco, Jim Jones and Melton chasing. Marshall crashed, leaving Davis to inherit second, and Melton passed Jones to take over fourth. By lap three, Larocco had passed Davis to claim second, and Melton then dropped Davis to fourth, taking over third; Fosnock still held the lead. Melton hounded LaRocco for the top spot after Fosnock erred and dropped to third. On the white flag lap, Melton chased LaRocco with the duo touching wheels, and Melton skyjumped to the win at the finish, leaving LaRocco in second and Fosnock in third. - (, " j : , ,. J d~;' £ '
