MILTON, FL, JULY 13
It was a close race in the Open
Pro class today at Gateway
Raceway, but when the dust
had settled it was Ricky Palmer
and his Honda CR500 taking the win
over Keilh English and Ed Kiley.
In the first moto, Kiley held Palmer
off for almost twO laps before crashing hard and dropping out of the
race. Palmer took over the lead but
was hounded by English. The two
battled for lhe remainder of the race
with Palmer holding on for the victory, inches ahead of English and
then Tony Ashe.
Palmer jammed into the lead at the
start of the second moto and commanded the top spot for six laps
before English cleared a double jump
Palmer sin~led. For the next three
'Iaps, English kept Palmer at bay, but
the new leader looped it over some
whoops, surrendering the lead back
to Palmer. English recovered quickly
and stayed close to Palmer, but Palmer
cruised home for lhe win and overall.
English finished second.
