Bollmeier and Tony Bullard were the on Iy two riders of the weekend to wi n both of the classes they entered, winning the 125 and 250cc A, and the 250cc B-Modified and Stock titles, respectively. One hundred and ninety·one riders vied for transfer to the National in August. with the top five in each class being guaranteed a spot. The schedule called [or three mows in each class, but heavy rains caused cancellation of Saturday's events and two motos were held on Sunday. The track was sloppy in practice, but improved throughout the day. Bollmeier took the holeshot in the first 250cc A moto and within a few laps had a very large lead on his Surdyke Yamaha/Yamaha-support YZ. Breck Power took second with jeff Ricker moving up to take third by moto's end. In the second moto, Bollmeier once again pulled away for an undisputed win. joe Cox held second for the early part of the race, but saw Mark Bolten get by on the third lap. jeff Oldenberg was charging up and blasted by Bolten as the moto wound down to claim second. Bolten held third which combined with his firstmoto eighth for fourth overall. Cox repeated his finish of the first moto with another fourth, giving him second overall. The I25cc A division featured Boll· meier out front all the way in the first moto. Bryan Shiltz challenged briefly on the first lap, but crashed near the end of the first lap. Bollmeier then cruised away [rom the pack [or a big win. Jim Scou passed Todd Taeger on the third lap to secure second. Greg Wurster pressured Taeger for severaJ laps then got by to secure the top four positions. Shiltz recovered from his crash to place fifth. As the pack rounded the first turn in the second moto Bollmeier was out front, but he hit i bump as he sliced in too close to tlie fence. The unexpectedjoltcaused him to flipoverthe handlebars and he was left picking up his bike as the pack sped away. Jim Randa absconded with the lead tailed by Shilll. Bollmeier was up quickly and charged to eighth by the end of the first lap. Randa proceeded to establish a large lead while BoIImeier moved up to pass second-placed Taeger on the fifth lap as they hit the sandwash. Bollmeier ate away Randa's lead in large gulps for the next two laps, but fell off on the seventh lap dropping him back to third. Brian Fern latched onto his tail and they bauled for two laps, closing on Taeger. Taeger and Fern both crashed on the last lap with Bollmeier and Wurster wrapping up second and third.
