By Thom Veety HI- SPORT TIRES Stoneyhollow MX BERWICK, PA, JUNE 20 Steve Herman took top honors in two classes at Evansville Raceway's secon4 supercross on the John Savitski-designed track. Herman took his Kawasaki to the point in the Mini Expert class by holding off a very strong ride by Yamaha mounted Eric Boyer to take the win. Herman also powered his Kawasaki to the lead in 125cc Amateur action leading second-place finisher Bryan Monty by 17 seconds at the finish for his second class win. Yamaha support rider Eddie Hicks, on a eastern tour with Gene "Fire-. ball" Gentsch, grabbed the win in 125cc Expert action, leading Gentsch, Kurt McMillen and Gary Hoke. Gentsch bailed on lap five of the eight lap moto, allowing McMillen to take over second. McMillen was on the gas and out jumping most 9f the other riders but couldn't catch Hicks who took the win. McMillen held on for second ahead of Hoke. Max Crawford took the holeshot in 250cc Novice action with Tom Mowery in second ahead of Dan Gordner, Dan Gruver and John Jarrett. Crawford made a mistake on the second lap, allowing Mowery and Gordner to get by. Gruver held on in fourth with Jay UewellynandRidJardGuerriero moving up. Mowery held the lead to take the class win with Crawford taking second ahead of Gordner, Gruver Llewellyn and Robert Plath. Result SR MINI EX: 1. Ste..... Herman (Kaw); 2. Eric Boyer (Yam). Sauer sails at By James Hundley DAYTON, OH, JUNE 22 Kawasaki-mounted Lenny Sauer set a high goal for riders at future events as he won four motos in a row to win the 60cc Pee Wee and 80cc Mini Juniordasses in a round of the Stoneyhollow MX Series at the Dayton M.C. clubgrounds. In the Open B class, Alan Poindexter got the first moto holeshot, followed by Bill Leger and Jindrich Gre£. After pulling a huge lead, Poindexter stalled on the second lap letting Leger take the lead and then the win. The second moto saw Poindexter pull the holes hot again, followed by Kevin Shiner, Leger and Gre£. On the third lap, Leger passed Shiner to move into second. Leger than passed Poindexter on the last lap to win. In the first moto of the always exciting I25cc B class, Don Caudill got the holeshot, followed by Chad Walker and Barry Neal. Walker took the lead on the secopd lap and never looked back, leading eal and Terry Bernard across the finish line. Caudill holeshot the second moto, followed by Mike Shell, Walker and Bernard. After two laps of hard dicing, Walker passed Shell over a triple jump. The tiring Shell was then passed by Bernard on lap three. Walker won, with Bernard second, Neal third, and Shell fourth.
