WaddIngton wins Connecticut MX By Todd Smith CENTRAL VILLAGE, CT, JUNE 8 Joe Waddington continued his domination of NESC racing by winning three of four motos on the Central Cycle Club's supercross-style track. A perfect score was lost when shock and transmission failure dropped Joe to second in one moto. Waddington's problems occurred in the final stages of the first l25cc Expert moto. The race was a typical Waddington outing, as he took the holeshot and mOLOred away. Unfortunately the race lasted one lap too many, as JoJo Keller caught "Wadd" just as the last lap sign was flashed. Keller had bulldozed his way into second and was able to erode a 22- Danny Paladino took the 126 and 260CC Pro wins at Sand Hill MX. second lead when Waddington's unusually indestructible Honda unraveled. Keller would not get a chance to do ballie again, however, as his legs cramped severely between motos. The combination of unseasonably humid weather and having run a biathalon (56-mile bike race and five-mile run) earlier in the day prematurely ended Keller's racing. There were no cramps in Waddington's pits, though, as mechanics sprinted to ready his CRI25 for the second moto. Greg Mayo holeshot the second moto, but soon fell in the rulled lOamy approach to the tabletop. Waddington moved from a midpack start to third by the third lap. Wemyss Scott was in the lead with a pesky Randy McCann close behind. Waddington trailed these two for a mere three laps before riding off to the checkers. The Open Expert class once again saw Waddington take first place. The two motos were far from boring, though, thanks to the hard riding of Scott. The first moto saw David "Maineiac" Rudnicki holeshot, followed by Waddington, Dave Paquette and Scott. Waddington reeled in Rudnicki as they sailed over the double jump on the second lap. Scott quickly dispatched Paquette and set out after Rudnicki's Cycle Design Kawasaki. Rudnicki and Scott jumped the pop-up side-by-side; once again "Rudd" was on the inside, giving him the advantage as they stormed down the start area straight to the next turn. Scott gambled, taking the rough inside line through the braking bumps, past Rudnicki. Meanwhile Waddington had built up his customary lead, leaving Scott second at moto's end. Lee Helliwell exited the first turn of the second moto ahead of Waddington and Vic O'Brien. Waddington moved into first for good two turns later. Results OPEN EX: 1. Joe Waddington (Hon); 2. Womys.
