Faria (Shoei/J/Oilzall/Oak}ey/ . Hi-Point/Kal-Gard/Tsubaki/George Wenn/Carlisle Tires Jawa) came out of the number three staning slot in third behind Ohio's Scolly Brown and the 1985 California State Champion Steve Lucero. Faria and Lucero made fast work on Brown as they sandwiched the easterner coming 0[[ turn two on the first circuit. Faria then got the drive and shot into the lead, which he never relinquished on the rough track surface. Mark Dwyer got by Brown and then tried 10 shoot down Lucero. The younger member of the Riverside racing family pulled alongside Lucero on the back chute and they went at it handlebar-to-handlebar. At the same time that the war was raging'at the front of the pack, Faria was running away with the lead. He eventually took the ·win by a wide margin while Lucero edge Dwyer for second in an incredible photo finish. The Handicap main event was a wild affair, to say the least, and Dwyer (Middle Eanh Video/Maurice's Used Speedway Bikes/Scoll Goggles/Arai/Pop &: Fast Racing Weslake) charged all the way from the 50-yard line to capture the win. Greg Ayers was the initial leader over Scott Brant, but Jeff Johnson rele!rated Brant to third on the back chute and then physically moved Ayers out of the way for the lead on lap one. Brown also got by Ayers on lap two for second, while Dwyer hustled into third. One lap later, Dwyer took second from Brown. Dwyer then only had 10 pass Johnson, and just like the previous week, he blazed by Johnson for the lead and eventual win. Johnson stayed in second place, with Brown laking third. Impressive Archie Perez (Godden) 'won the reg-f1ag-shortene
