Cook returns to win Fresno By Mitch Friedman FRESNO, CA, MAY 18 John Cook took the win at the Ratcliffe Farewell at Fresno's own Ratcliffe Stadium. Cook, who rides in England for the 46 , ahead of Yamaha rider Chris Taylor. Yamaha-mounted Kenny Maddux took top honors in 250cc Intermediate action after trading moto wins with fellow Yamaha rider Jimmy Lewis. Lewis won round one but Maddux topped the second moto to tie-break the identical scores. Honda rider Mike Hooker just edged Yamaha pilot Mark Jones for third. Huff was well in control when the checkers flew and McNeil had held onto second, but Wessing had taken over third at the white flag moving Lundgren 10 fourth. Wade ended the battle with Carter in fifth leaving Carter sixth. Bob Collier shot his Honda in the 400cc final lead with Glen Milleville and the Bultaco in hot pursuit. Wade moved into secadn on the white flag lap, but 10 late to catch Collier who held on for the win. Wade held off Milleville for the secad spot. Reed Bertilino and Rick Knuth on his Yamaha blasted into turn one of the 500cc final with Audie Huff Jr. in hot pursuit. Huff took the high line into secad spot in turn number two and set his sights ot! Bertilino. The two leaders put on the show of the night for the next two laps exchanging positions sometimes twice a lap. Knuth kept the Yamaha close, but couldn't get by the lead duo and at the checkers Huff had held on for the win with Bertilino, Knuth., John Simenac and Steve Farrell following him home.
