Mota number one saw David Kelley of Montgomery, Alabama, shoot into the lead with Foley in pursuit. After four laps, Kelley had a sizable lead, but he bobbled and went off the track. By the time he got going again, Foley slipp~d by and the fans had a good race on their hands. Foley began jumping the 65-foot triple jumps, (to date, he is the only rider to attempt it) and began to pull away. Foley won with Kelley getting the runner-up slot. Motolwo saw Foley holeshot with Kelley in hot pursuit. Kelly was within striking distance when Foley misjudged the triple and almost lost it. Kelley trying to take advantage of it was so close that the two riders' wheels were hitting. Foley regained his composure and pulled a lead on Kelley. They finished in that order with Tony Ashe of Destin, Florida taking third. John Jordan of Montgomery, Alabama, powered his Honda to a win in the 80cc Expert class, only after pass: ing Scott Brown of Selma after the first lap.
