250cc, and Open Pro classes LOday at
Sand Hill.
Riding for Concord Yamaha, Bostard (sponsored by Malcolm Smith/
SCOll USA/P J I Oils/Din Riders Detergent) followed SCOll McElroy out
of the gates, and then slipped to the
fomth place slot in the second lap
behind McElroy, Willie Miller, and
Danny Paladino. Thinking that a .
loose pipe was a broken front wheel,
Bostard nursed his bike through the
laps. daring LO challenge the front·
runners in the sixth lap. By then,
McElroy had fallen back LO fifth
place, and Miller led the way, fo!lowed
by Paladino. Bostard took on Paldino in the seventh lap, and finished
second behind Miller in the first moLO.
In the second moLO, Bostard grabbed
the right crack 0(( the gates, took the
holeshot, and kicked up his wheels
for a runaway ride LO the checkers.
Paladino, who had a late stan, man·
euvered his bike from fifth to second
place in the first five laps, only to
finish last in the moLO when his transmission went out. Boslard took the
overall 125cc Pro class win, with
Miller's 1-3 scores giving him second
overall.
What started out LO be a leisurely
Sunday afternoon stroll for Andris
(sponsored by Malcolm Smith and
Kiser Bros. Honda) turned out to be a
stormy dog fight. Andris took the
250cc Pro holeshot with Howie Ross
nippingat his exhaust pipe. As Andris
tried LO create some space, Ross swal·
lowed the dust and shadowed Andris,
successfully passing him on the fifth
lap. Ross picked his own lines, with a
frantic Andris CUlling to the outside,
only LO be shut out for the pass.
Finally, on the white flag lap, Andris
saw his chance and ovenook Ross for
the lead and the win.
Taking no chances, Andris established his lead early in the second
moto, and blew the pack away in the
.dust as he crossed the Wckers uncon·
