In the last turn, 30 feet from the finish line, Peterson fell and Wallace got by. In the second moLO, Steven Herman took the lead and finished first. Dillin was right behind him but fell in the last lap and finished at the back of the pack. Peterson had an early fall but returned to finish second and won overall, on a Kawasaki. Cowies top vintage rally By Leo Lewis WHITE CITY,IL, MAY 15 The St. Louis Chapter AMC traditionally starts the midwest's vintage motorcycling season with its Spring Rally. With rain all around the White City area the competitors managed LO dodge all but a few raindrops for the 17th running of this popular event. Starting from the Midslate MOLOrcycle Club's dusty clubgrounds, where no rain fell, the riders covered almost. 40 miles and riders ran into only a few drops as they neared the finish. The flat farmland, with many of the roads following section lines, led the competiLOrs from check point co check point. When the results were calculated the Cowie boys, Leland and Lee, had lost one minute error for the entire route LO win. Results FINAL: 1. Loe Cowie (BSA); 2. Chas. Stoclthausen (BSA); 3. Jerry Hawk (Zun). Seip tops Sleepy HollowMX By Pete Keiser FREDERICKSBURG, PA, MAY 8 Jerry Seip Jr. was consistently smooth during the sixth race of the season at Sleepy Hollow Motocross Park, winning the 32 250cc A class and placing second in the Open A. While Seip led the early laps of both 250cc A moLOS he could . only manage second-place finishe . Dag Boyeson got through traffic at will and rode in Seip's roost before squeaking by in the final lap of moLO number one. In the second motb, Boyeson trailed Seip and Mike Spear through the first lap but crashed heavily and had to settle for eighth overall. Spear pressed hard and beat Seip to the checkered flag but wound up second overall. Third place went LO Troy Coons, who pulled off founh and third place finishes, respectively. Boyeson was more successful in the Open A class where he took second and first place finishes. Seip had his Honda ahead of Boyeson for over four laps in the second 30-minute moLO, but again Boyeson muscled his Kawasaki past him for the win. Bob Sorenson and his KTM looked tough en route to a solid third, via founh and third place finishes. Spear had won the first moLO, but a flat tire took him outof third place in the second. He had to settle for 10th overall. The Mini Juniors and the 60cc class ran together and Johnathan Lloyd and Pierron Reasner rode their 60cc Kawasakis right up with the front runners of the 80cc group. Shawn Martin kept his Suzuki ahead of the pack, however. Honesty paid off for Manin in the second moLO. He and another rider were dueling for the lead off the holeshot, and both ran off the course in the first tum. Only Manin turned around and re-entered at the point of departure. The other rider cut a considerable ponion of the track. Martin was in last place when he returned LO the action, but he showed determination and skill by blowing past the entire field in a lap-and-a-half. When the checkered Uagdropped, he was so far ahead it looked a if he was in a class by himself. Fellow Mini Junior riders Michael Vrabel, on a Yamaha, and Auutie SLOut on a Honda, took second and third in the moLO and overall. Moto number two saw Lloyd I.eading Reasner through the first half lap before Lloyd crashed. Reasner got around and rode his PJ-1/Klotzl Gear/Oury/Cumberiand Kawasakisponsored KX60 into fourth for the overall win. Wayne Scott ably rode his Honda to second overall. Lloyd, who needed help straightening his handlebars, rode uncharacteristically slowly after the fall but still claimed third overall. Falls also marked the Mini Senior Expen class. Through most of the Conner scores at Beaver Valley HS By Curt Baronio BEAVER VALLEY, PA, MAY 18 Husky-mounted Duane Conner took the Beaver Valley Hare Scrambles as he stunned the rest of the field by taking a six minute lead and holding it throughout the race. Richard Kresic managed LO Slay in second overall to lake the win in the Open A class. In the Open B class there was a fierce battle between Honda-mounted Patrick Pahl and Tracy Spinnenweber's Husky. Pahl took the lead for the first two laps before relinquishing itLO Spinnenweber, but Spinnenweber returned the favor two laps before the finish to give the win to Pahl. There was also a fight for' the lead in the Senior B class between Wayne George and Randall Hall. The KTM of Hall, however, came out on top. Results 200 B: 1. Glenn Schaff... (K_I; 2. Barnes explodes at B&BMX By Linda Brewer MACCLESFIELD, NC, MAY 24 Yamaha-mounted Timothy Barnes blew away the competition in the 250cc and Open Pro classes at B&B Speedway. Barnes led from start LO finish in both 250cc Pro moLOS while Steve Smith emerged in second place followed by Ervin Smith in third. In the Open class, Barnes -dusted the competition with two moto wins with Steve Smith again taking second. Third place went to Tim Huffman in the Open class. Doug "Pete" Lamm won his first ever race in the 60cc class. Warren Ausley grabbed the holeshot in both 80cc motos and was followed home by and Derek Walston. Troy Brewer pushed his Yamaha hard en route to the overall win in the SOcc Pro class; Brewer beat Kevin Webb and Billy Conn Lee Williford put on an exciting show in the 125ccAmateur portion of the program wi th second place going to Billy Taylor. Slafiley Puett and Scott Riggs finished second and third, respecti vely. Duran Johnson and Bobby Houser engaged in quite a battle in the l25cc Pro class with Johnson eventually getting the nod for the overall. Wayne Brewer finished third. Tim Huffm.n (ICTM). sarr- Ingersoll wins CRCenduro By Bill Herndon RED MOUNTAIN, CA, MAY 18 The upset of the day at California Racing Oub's Puckerbush Enduro came when 19-year-old Jason "Jolts" Ingersoll won. Well-known in current CRC motocross, and a top Mini rider for several years, Jolts came out and literally destroyed the challenging Puckerbush course and competition. His 6.347 minute drop included only one point at the first loop two checkout, one point on loop three's check 12, and {our points at the check 13 special test tiebreaker. In addition to turning in the only "six," Ingersoll was one of the few to finish loop three early! He took the overall win, as well as the 250cc A win on his self-sponsored CR250 Honda. John Ferro salvaged second overall and first AA on his CR500 Honda, with a 7.376 drop. Granada Yamaha's Randy Pretzer grabbed third, and second in class on his YZ250, only two seconds later. Scott Crawford, settled for the 200cc A win, fourth overall. Jack Labrum took first250cc AAlVet, at 8.468 on his new YZ250, fifth overall. Kathy Labrum, Jack's wife, scored the second upset of the day, soundly trouncing the loop two A Women's class, at a remarkable 7.205 on her IT200. Generally easy, but with a couple pretty steep uphills and a tough RR crossing, Loop one was 26.4 miles, and used four checks, one green-card tiebreaker, and one three-mile special test. The overall loop one winner and first Mini B was Chris Anderson on a KX80at3.168. Beginners Don Bevans and Darick Schmiu took second and third at 3.. L73 and 3.174, respectively, both on Hondas. Bill Flanders, fourth overall, won the 200cc C-16 class at 3. L82, also Honda-mounted, and tied Mini C Rick Knox, who took first in his class on a YZ80. Lori Boretree again took the C Women win, and now goes to B Women. Loop two included five checks, one
