MAY 25 Texan Doug Polen continued his nationwide domination of the Suzuki GSXR Cup Series by taking on and beating Doug Toland twice at the fourth AFM meeting of the year at Willow Springs International Raceway before 4000 fans. Polen, 25, won both 750cc Stock and Open Stock Produc- 20 tion in his first appearance ever at the Southern California track, but later had his 750cc win taken away because of steel braided brake lines fitted to his Suzuki - illegal in AFM Box Stock racing. I Polen was, however, allowed to keep his first place prize money, which combined with his Open win and fourth place in the Honda Interceptor Series saw him collect over $2000 for the weekend, bringing hi race purse earnings for the year to over $21,000. Toland did not go home empty handed either, taking a comfortable victory in the Toyota/Budweiser/ Coca Cola Formula A race despite a piece of fairing breaking off his Arai/Vance & HineslBel-Ray/Fox Racing USA-sponsored Team Hammer 1985 endurance racer. Toland led home the Kerker/Dunlop/NO Denso/Spectro-sponsored Yamaha FZ750 Superbike of Jim Vreeke, who urvived an oil bath from third ptacefinisherEari R"OIoff when the oil sight window blew out of Roloff's Cycle Racer-sponsored Kawasaki GPZloooRX, nicknamed ·'Terminator."
