..... ..... Honda's Wayne Gardner is helped from his bike after practice. Manuel Herreros won a wheel-towheel 80cc battle with Stefan Dorflinger to give Derbi their second win of the season. Herreros took the championship lead from teammate Aspar Martinez, who retired with electrical problems on lap seven while contesting the lead with Krauser-mounted Dorflinger. Ian McConnachie made a good slartonly to be forced onto the grass a few meters later. tie was 28th on the first lap then cut his way through the field to pass Angel Nieto with two laps to go, chasing Dorflinger across the line for a fine third. Italian Luca Cadalora scored a convincing 125cc victory over Carelli teammate and championship leader Fausto Cresini. From the start of the race the two were side-by-side until Cadalora started to open out a convincing lead from lap II, halfway through the race. August Auinger was third in the early stages but puJled into the pits with a broken gear lever, rejoining the race a lap down. That left Ezio Gianola .and Bruno Kneubuhler to battle for third but in the last few laps Gianola managed to pull out a 10second advantage over the Swiss veteran. World Champions Egbert Streuer The 250cc pack chasing already-gone Cornu, Bolleand Ricci includes winner Lavado (3), third-place Wimmer (4). and Bernard Schnieders put on a masterful demonstration to win the sidecar race ahead of Rolf Biland and Kurt Waltisperg. Behind there was plenty of excitement with Derek Jones and Brian Ayres spinning their outfit when it looked as though they would finish third; they recovered to cross the line sixth, in front of Alain Michel and Jean Marc Fresc who had also been set to take third until the sidecar suspension collapsed on the last lap. For most of the race Streuer followed Biland but the Dutch team had enough in hand to win by five seconds when they needed to. • Results 5(X)cc: 1. Eddie lawson (Yam); 2. 'Wayne Gardner (Han); 3.
