this evening sorting out gearing.
Halfway through the night's events,
Cliff ~ound. the right combination,
allowmg hIm to ride a tighter line
through the comers. He crossed the
line the winner in front of Damien
Cornwell, joel Monell and Lynn
Bennett.
Damon Lengle made it two-fortwo, winning his second Division 3
main event in as many outings. Lengle, who has fiat track experience, is
becommg more accustomed to speedw~y.' .and lC?ok~ to be heading for a
DIVIsIOn 2 nde 10 the future. Trailing
Lengle across the finish line were
Andy Bear and Mike. DeGroat. Buddy
DaVIS nded hIS evenmg and the main
event at the turn four wall.

Padgett wins

Mike Padgett scored a hardfought win at Smoky Mt. MX
as he outran and outscored 22
fellow 125cc C class riders.
When the cord snapped in thefirst
moto, Travis Payne took the early
le~d. Padgett stayed with Payne, and
midway through the race Padgett
pulled a stunning pass. Padgett took
an mSlde line going into a tight turn,
for~ed Payne to the outside, and
claimed the lead. That didn't last
lon~ as Payne repassed going down a
straIghtaway and never looked back
as he rode away with the win.
I,:! the second moto, Padgett once
agam made a run for the lead but fell
to third. Bryan Lawson passed Padgett, and then midway through the
moto Payne crashed and was out of
the race. Padgett sail~ over the jumps,
and went on to wm the moto and
overall honors. Clayton Moyers finished second overall.
In the Open class, jef£ Goforth
dC?mi!1ated, riding to hard-fought
wms 10 both motos. In the first heat
Goforth sizzled the dirt with a spec~
tacular performance. Midway through
the race, Goforth crashed into a loose
~rm, and David Farris quickly shot
mto the lead. Goforth remounted
and turned on the afterburners to
retake ';he l~a~. Two laps later his
al1;gresslv.e nding style paid off big
WIth a wm.
In the second moto, Farris took the
holeshot and pulled out a mall lead
over Brent Cole and Goforth. Goforth
tl;lrned on the gas and passed both
nders, also taking the second moto
wm.
john Kyles was the overall winner
in the Senior class, besting Ray Hickman and CraIg Carey. Chris Barton
of England had a bit of bad luck
when he was involved in a bikebending crash. Barton said "These
American riders are faster ~han the
Europeans...
