Carlos Lavado won the 250cc race on a Vamaha, with Toni Mang second on a Honda ahead ofVamaha-mounted Martin Wimmer. Reigning 250 and 500cc World Champion Freddie Spencer appeared at a press conference at the track but did not race; Spencer is having problems with his right wrist and arm. Jeff Morrow and Keith Pinkstaff topped their respectivedivi ion during Suzuki GSXR Cup Series competition Sunday at Portland International Raceway in Oregon. Morrow won the 750cc Production race, beating Chuck Wiley and Brian Morgan. Keith Pinkstaff took the win in the Open Production division. followed by Morrow, Wiley and Dale Quanerley. The Honda Interceptor 500 Series round was topped by Mike Johnson, who was followed home by Scon Moon. Robert Schu.£f, Steve Sipes and Rich Wascher. Terry Cunningham edged fellow factory Husqvarna rider Randy Hawkins by one point. 10-11, to win the Red Neck National Enduro Sunday May 25 in Saline. Louisiana. KTM-mounted Kevin Hines finished third, with 13 points. The win unofficially tied Cunningham with Hines in the National Enduro Championship points standings. George Roeder Jr. topped the Expert cia s at the May 26 AMA Eastern Regional Championship Half Mile in. York, Pennsylvania. Chris Evans (H-D) was second, with Honda rider Rod Farris third. The Junior win fell to Wood-Rotax rider Les Washbon, while Scott Stump put his Harley on top of the Pro-Am division. 2 Vamaha-mounted Ross Pederson won the May 23 Montreal (Canada) Supercross over Allan Dyck and Honda pilot Guy Cooper, before 35,000 spectators. On May 24, the second night of the doubleheader, 53,000 fans watched Dyck (Vam) defeat Pederson and Cooper. Husqvarna rider Dan Smith continued his domination of the National Hare & Hound Championship Series by winning round five on May 25, the Cherry Creek Hare & Hound in Delta, Utah. Open-clas"s riders Dan Ashcraft (Hus), Shawn Gerber (KTM), Brad Strong (Hus) and Mark Lundgren (Hon) rounded out the LOp five overall. World Speedway Championship contender and 1984-1985 British Speedway Champion Kenny Carter, 25, killed his wife, Pamela, 25, and himself on Wednesday night, May 21 at their home in England. The murder/ suicide, thought to be the result of a domestic argument, left the couple's two children, four-year-old Kelly Marie and two-year-old Malcolm, unhurt. Mark Melton and Ken Bollrneier topped the featured 125cc A and 250cc A classes, respectively, at the AMA-SlInctioned North American Spring Marathon MX Championships held in Terre Haute, Indiana over the Memorial Day Weekend. The Ryan Remsing Memorial Motocross scheduled for Woodside Motocross Raceway in Sandpoint, Idaho on July 27 will see all proceeds going to the National Head Injury Foundation, according to event organizer Rick Remsing, Chairman of the Ryan Remsing Memorial Fund.
