William Troll took the Novice class win decisiveLy with 27_ points and has now earned enough promotion points to be promoted to the Intermediate class. Carroll Conley was second with 41 points. ]n the Beginner class, Laddie Papp rode to the win and a promotion to Novice class with 23 points. John Copley and Jot: Deck had a close contest at the halfway point with Copley showing a three point lead. Bob Brown took the Advanced class win over Bob Maxwell by seven points, 54 to 61. Russ Driver, who moved back to the Advanced class for the day due to the lack of other Senior class riders, showed the youngsters he still has what it takes by finishing third over the remaining five Advanced riders. The Trials, Inc. sponsored event hosted 39 riders in unseasonably hot weather over a IO-section, four-loop course. All riders rode all the sections with different lines marked out for the different classes. One o£ the more difficult sections for the Expert class entailed climbing a creek bank, turning, jumping off a steep bank back into .the creek, climbing back up the same bank at an off-camber angle, executing a steep drop over tree Toots back into the creek and climbing a hill while executing a very tight "S" tum to the finish. Another section Canadians invade Motomasters MX By Joel Church MAPLEV]EW, NY, APR. 27 The Canadians came down in force and made for very close and exciting racing on the demanding Motomasters MX track. Chris Coleman holeshot the first 250cc Expert moto with his brother Charlie Coleman following. Charlie Coleman dropped back a bit while Chris Shipclark and Rich Westfall moved up. Chris Coleman then opened a lead over a close second place battle between Shipclark and Westfall. Westfall pulled away while Matt Levy put pressure on Shipclark. Shipclark was able to hold off Levy to take third behind winner Chris Coleman and runner-up Westfall. The second moto saw Charlie Coleman pull the holeshoL Chris Coleman hounded his brother through each turn and then made a clean pass, pulled ahead and led to the [inisl). Levy and Westfall diced it out [or second after getting by Charlie Coleman in the late stages o[ the reace. Levy took second at the finish line just ahead of Westfall.
