Eaves almosl losl it while going over lhe table-LOp jump in front of lhe LOwer. On lap lwo Eyman had a problem and Parker, Slockflelh and Anderson moved up a nOlch. Wilh a lap LO go, Slockflelh fell and 10Sl a lap. Up front Fisher had 30 yards on Eaves and Burnside was pressuring him al every corner, trying LO lake over second. Coming down Ihe nonh uphill seclion backwards, Fisher fell in fronl of the drop-aCE jump and Burnside had a problem backing up 10 gel around lhe fallen Fisher. Finally Burnside was running wilh an 80-yard lead over lhe olhers. With a lap-and-a-half 10 go everyIhing looked good [or Burnside when all of a sudden he hil a deep rUl and [ell. Atlhe finish line Ihe order went Fisher, Eaves, Byman, Parker, Anderson and Burnside. Gelling lhe scralch in the 125cc Pro class was Glenn (Hollywood) Hunter followed by Mike Bell, Kunis Rogstad, ErneSI Robens and Jeff Reed, is an Open Pro and was running wilh the olhers and being scored sepanuely. Hunter built a 20-yard lead over Bell, who had 15 yards on Rogstad and the others. Rogslad went down by lhe lablelop jump bUI was up and running shonly wilh a 60yard deficit. Rogstad showed some greal Sly Ie over lhe lableLOp_ jump, almoslclearing lhewhole thing while running Ihe track backwards. Bell closed in on Hunterand was running side-by-side Wilh him when he went down. Bell was up and running withOUI loosing a position. Hunler was looking greal in the mud as lhe flag came out for him, and Bell, Rogslad, Reed and Roberts. Taking lhe early lead was Belllhen Rogslad, Hunter and Reed. After one lap Rogstad passed Bell for good. BOlh riders rode like Ihere wasn'l any mud at all, pUlling 100 yards on lhe o.tehrs, On lhe thir_d lap ~ogs~~ got_ sldewa)!s over lhe ta~le lap bUl did a Tom Carriger took his Suzuki (our-stroke si ngle to wi n victories in the R&D Enterprisespromoted, Stroh's and Pepsi Cola-sponsored, AMA sanctioned HiPoint Series flallrack al Bolado Park: Carriger is proving LO be lhe King of Bolado and is now a very serious conlender for lhe Hi-Point Championship. In Ihe pasl Iwo weeks he has displaced Rick Ryan and his moLOcross machine and he has bealen flal track regulars Danny Moore, Kurt Chandler and Brad Spencer in recent weeks as well. In the 500cc Expert final, Carriger's job was made somewhal easier by lheearly pileup belween rivals Moore and Chandler, neilher of whom were hurt. Only lale race pressure from Ryan, who had come from deep in lhe pack, kepI Carriger from coasling home. The Pro-Am Expen final saw Chandler grab Ihe lead bUI relinquish il quickly 10 Carriger. By lap two on lhe kidney-shaped lrack laid OUI wilhin the rodeo grounds, il was Moore by Chandler and offering some challenge LO Carriger's lead. On lap four and Ihe halfway point in lhe final, Ryan crammed under Moore 10 lake over second place and begin, again, 10 reel in Carriger. The absoIUlely flawless ride of Carriger earned him lhe vicLOry and lap money. Ryan was second and Moore lhird. In lhe80cc Mini bike final an early crash approaching lhe righI-hand infield lurn saw Jake Zemke, Kawasaki-mounted and on a recent hal streak, go down and gel run over. The race was red-flagged and young Zemke went 10 the hospilal for a plasler caSI on lhe left arm. On lhe reSlarl il was Miss Michelle DiSalvo into the lead and although harrassed at every corner and nearly caughl each lapon the from sLTaighlaway by Mallhew Wail, il was a cool Miss DiSalvo who look the checkers first.
