GARDENA, CA, MAY 2
Ron Turner just keeps on winning at the Continental Motosports Club (CMC) Dodge
Trucks Ascot night motocross.
He traded molO wins with David
Graff in the 125cc Pro class, but
claimed the overall. Then Turner
also won the 250cc Pros with a 2- I
tally.
In the first moto, John Conney led
the way over Turner (Yamaha Pro
Support/Terry Varner Racing/Bellflower' Yamaha/O'Neal USA) and
Tim Rutherford. By the end of the
first lap, Turner had passed Co.nney
and Graff had moved up lO third
ahead of Rutherford. Conney fell in a
slow turn on lap two, dropping to
fifth. Graff, now in second place, set
his sights on Turner, and on the next
lap, set him up for a pass coming out
of the turn before the TT jump. On
the white flag lap, Turner tried to
regain the lead, but had to settle for
second spot in front of Rutherford.
Moto two again saw Canney grab
the lead with Turner and Graff on his
rear tire. Turner got by before the end
of lap two, as did Graff. Graff dove
under Turner in the turn before the
finish line, but Turner got back past
in the start-area whoops. Graff tried
to repass, but fell, dropping to sixth
place. On the last lap, Graff had
moved up to fourth, but ran into
Rutherford and dropped to fifth behind Chris Boice (O'Neal USA Honda), who was taking his first rid~ 3:s a
Pro. Turner led the way to the f!Dtsh
line, with Conney second and Ru~er
ford (AXO/PJIIYokohama Tues/
Tommy Bolten/ArailFMF) third.
Mike Pascarella led the way in
both motos of the 80cc Expert class,
with Steve Kotasarvi second. In the
80cc Intermediate class, Rusty Somers
was the initial leader in malO one,
but was passed by Jeff Grafton on the
last lap. Somers came back to win
molO two over Kevin Bussy and Grafton.

Gregory, Wiley
wild at Newport SX
By Clay Light
NEWPORT, OR, MAY 3
Dan Gregory (Taylor Honda)
and Jon Wiley (Newberg Honda) went absolutly wild in
Supercross action at the Lincoln
County Fairgrounds in Newport on
the Oregon Coast. Gregory grabbed
wins in both 125cc C Division Two
motos while Wiley walloped the l25cc
Division One with 2-1 rides. Dana
Anderson (Honda) was the fastest
rider in attendance and came away
with lOp 250cc B laurels after posling
1-) rides on his 125.
The first 125cc Division One mota
saw Vancouver, WashinglOn's Scott
Mobley push his Kawasaki to the
front of the pack leading Brody
Anderson and Wiley, who motored
through traffic on lap one to settle
into third. Anderson displaced Mobley lO take over the lead on the next
circuit and quickly pulled away,
leaving Mobley and Wiley lO swap it
out for second which went Wiley's
way at the completion, a Quarter-lap
back of Anderson. Mobley took a
third with John Simmons and Hondamounted Chris Olexiwicz nabbing
fourth and fifth at mota's end. Moto
two had Wiley take the lead out of
turn one and held off vain advances
from Anderson to take the molO win
as well as the overall via his 2-1 performance. with Anderson grabbing
second brass (1-2) over consistent
Mobley (3-3).
Division Two had Gregory go uncontested to lead the 12-rider .field
