Wagenknecht wins Knoxville HM By Dave Hoenig KNOXVILLE, IL APR_ 27 The first 1986 Professional half mile in Illinois was held at the Knox County Fairgrounds after changing from its usual venue at Henry. Greg Wagenknecht found the change to his liking as he easily took his Harley-Davidson to fast time, fast heat and a convincing win in the final. Tim Farrell and Tim Pratt were the Junior and Pro-Am winners. Wagenknecht was the last rider to take to the track in Lime trials, but quickly shot Mike Ragan out of the (ast time slot by turning a 27.58. Eric Graybeal. took his Wood-Rotax to fast Junior time. The last heat ea ily belonged to Pratt_ A small turnout of Junior riders resulted in just three heats in the normally overcrowded class. Tim Farrell led the first heat wire-to-wire while setting the fastest time; Graybeal trailed a shon distance back in econd. Ron Williams ran away with the second heat over Bob Buffington, but the last hea t was the best of the day as Jim Hauptman slipped by Mark Hilts just past the halfway mark and held on for the second fastest heal. Wagenknecht ran away with Expen heat one leaving a four-way bailie for second. Steve Steele, Terry Bond, Greg Crow and Wade Camlin dueled until the fifth lap when Bond fell outleaving rookie Camlin with a ticket into the final behind Wagenknecht, Steele and Crow. The second heat looked to be all Ragan's until the last lap when John Powell slipped by for the win; Jon Champlin moved up to take third from Charlie Braasch. The last heat definitely had a surprise ending for everyone, but sp cially Mike Farley_ Joe Peterson got the holeshot and led until Farley dove inside as they .... ----::- 18240 So.Vermont , Gardena CA 90248 213/515-5115 Whft Is your problem?
