Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association's (WMRRA) season opener at Seattle International Raceway today. Two-time Canadian Superbike Champion Steve Dick was on form winning both the Form ula One and Superbike classes on new VFR 750 Hondas that were air-freighted to him in time 10 win six out of six races last week at Westwood in Ca nada. Canadians took th e top three spots in Fo rmu la O ne as Allied Motorcyclessponsored Steve Dick won a see-saw battle against Pacific Yamaha FZ750 racer Steve Cravier, Tom Walther got th ird on the first GSXR Suzu ki in front of like-mounted Kei th Pin kstaff and R enton Suzuki 's Joe Dav is in third and fourth , respectively. Pinkstaff's Zlock Raci n g teammate Dale Zlockman was proud to ga rner a sixth place on a 1983 GS750 that ha s mo re than earned its retirement. O pen Productio n was run concurrently with F-I and Chuck Wiley emerged from his own retirement to win the class aboard a new Suzuki. but no t before Montana rider Darr Riggen and his 900 Ninja gave him some problems along the way . Ex-flat tracker Stephen Sipes cruised the wet pavement to a third on a 500 Interceptor. Lap times averaged 10-15 seconds above normal and tire selection was crucial in some of the worst raceday weather co ndi tio ns in a decade. Those that had them. ran Michelin rain tires. " He wa s just faster than I was today. In these conditions. that broad V-Iour powerband is nice to have coming out of turns.
