In moto two, Charles You ng puIled off th e fast sta rt on ly to lose th e lead to Da vid Stone. Dea n Da vis, who had fin ished fourth in moto one, was in th is mo to to wi n an d pulled into seco nd in lap three. Davis rea Ily put p ressure o n Sto ne th roughout th e res t o f the race, a n d it p a id o ff. S to ne went down in th e last lap a nd Da vis da shed h ome th e winner with Young right behind him. Da vis posted th e best total an d took th e overa Il win as well. There was a good race in th e Open Novices between Tom Smith and Jim Ebbinga. Sm ith got th e hol esh ot in mo to o ne a nd had a goo d lead go ing wh en he fell in th e seco nd lap a nd dropped to fifth . Ebbin ga led th e rest of th e wa y an d won th e first moto a s Smith fought hi s way back 10 seco nd a t the end. Bill H ill iard was first o ff th e lin e in m o to two with Smith and Ebbinga righ t behi nd him. As th ey passed th e a n nou nc ing booth to begin th ird firs t fuIl lap. Smith leaped into th e lead and got into a batt le with Hi lliard . Ebbinga waited until th e two were too bu sy with eac h ot her to watch him , th ey shot past to ja ke th e lead.
