T he Expert main wa s uneventful a s McDowell led from start to fin ish. As the ta pes went up to start th e Pro Am main it appeared that it would be a car bo n co py of th e earlier races, and it would h ave been excep t fo r a th ird lap cras h tha t brought out th e red fla g. At the res tart, it was McDowell again for h is fifth straigh t h ol eshot of the.da y. McD owell was n ever ch al lenged a n d wen t to th e finish line with Tomm y Carriger a nd Bobby McDowell in th e run ner u p spots. R acing in th e 500cc Junior class provided much to today's excitement as Kenny Bu rt on took th e lead in th e . ea rly la p s. Cl ose behind Burton was Roger H amilton and Scott Eich elbaugh applying the pressure. Burton didn 't seem bothered as h is lead increased with each lap . The race for second really started to hea t up about m id way th ro ugh as Eich elbaugh an d H am ilton traded posit ions twice every lap. The ra ce for second really started to h ea t up about midway through as Eich elbaugh a nd Hamilton traded positions twice every lap. Eichelbaugh' s Yamaha seemed qu ick er through th e turns as h e m otored to the o utside each lap, but it was Hamilton 's stro ng dri ve off th e turns th at fin a lly gave h im second pl ace a t th e finish. " Storrn in' Norman" Storr was h ot today in th e 500cc Novice di vision as he h olesho t th e start and h eld to th e fin ish with ou t ever having his lead tak en away. Storr also had a good dri ve goi ng in th e 250cc class, bu t with th ree laps left to go h is m otor tied up, putting a n end to h is chance . o f taking a double wi n.
