the top rider out of 160 at
the third round of th e Virgin ia
Championship Hare Scrambles Series: for his third consecu tive win.
After two-and-a-half hours of racing.
Wh ite finished nearly five minutes
ahead o f hi s nearest co mpeit ior. In
co ntras t, th e nex t four overa ll spots
were on ly 17 seconds a pa rt ." White
was in a class by himself, today,"

Poor Boy Promotions, with th e
help of the T idewater Dirt R iders,
did an excellent job in selli ng up its
first-ever event. Each lap covered seven
miles of fast open field, twi sty open
and tight woods trails, with a few
mud bogs, numerous log cros sings
and a motocross section.
In the 'Supe r Senior cla ss, Bill Edmun,dson (Casey Cycle City/Lubri dyne) and Husky-mounted Stan Norris charged to the front ohhe pack at
the start then engaged in a bailie for
the lead, which Edmondson won.

rider Charles Southgate, today. T he
Yamaha rider jumped into the lead
im media tel y foll ow ing the gree n flag,
whi le Carl Meyer , Doug Ma yer, Bob
Collier and J im Kidman pursued : As
the pack spread out, Meyer and Mayer
battled it out right down to th e end
for seco nd pl ace. Ma yer would div e
hard into the turns, braking la ter
than Meyt.t, pulling in side of Meyer
only to have Meyer pull a way o n th e
stretch, leaving Mayer to settle for
third. Southgate easily ca p tured th e
win , while Meyer took second.
