Ed Key, ' 1985 WERA B Production National Champ, continued his domination of the Production classes, by winning the A and B Production races on his Yamaha FZ750. Key's victory in the B.Superbike race was just icing on the cake; he had already won $800 from Yamaha for his Production wins. Key's wife, Barb, was one of the scorers during the Sunday sprints, but both denied that had anything to do with his victories. Kurt Hall rode his Greenrose Honda/EBClKlolZ 500 Interceptor to wins in the C Production, C Superbike and the Honda Interceptor race. Hall's toughest challenge came in the C Superbike race , where Kevin Rentzell stayed close but couldn't overtake Hall. One of the clos est races of the da y was the Clubman race between Friz Kling and Brian French. Kling was riding a Honda 500cc single while French on the other hand was on a high-tech Suzuki RG250 Gamma. French would close th e gap entering every corner using the Suzuki's superior stopping power, but Kling's Honda single would out-accelerate the two-stroke coming out of the turns. Kling went on to take the win by only bikelengths. Pat H ernon 's victories in the Formula One and A Superbike ra ces were not quite as exciting.. By the tim e Hernon would enter turn one on the Team Hammer machine the race was as ·good as over. Not even Jim Knipp's T Z500 GP bik e cou ld keep pa ce wi th H ern on. Ca na dia n Al Miller was th e class of th e Novice ri ders. Mill er rode hi s Suzuki RG500 Gamma to wins in the B Production and C Su perbike Novice con tests. Results · F-1 : 1.
