The leO /Perform ance P rod ucts slic k odometer/speedometer kit is simple to install; a sma ll magne tic piece mounts to the fro n t hub. a nd a sensor attaches to the fork leg; the speedometer/odometer com putes m ileage and speed based on how many times th e magnet ic p iece passes the sensor as the w heel turns . Th e kit instructions say to mount th e sensor o n the left side of the hub (the same side as the brake) a nd ru n the odo met er cable up the br ake lin e. Ho wever, we found th ere isn't eno ug h room for the magn eti c piece to clear the fro nt disc brak e ca liper, and since we wan ted to use an Acer bis p las tic disc brak e a nd fork leg cover. we in stall ed th e sensor on the right side. We drill ed a sma ll hol e into the hu b, used a Tive-eighth-inch tap (wi th epoxy for added strength ) to attach th e magnet, and ra n th e odo me ter ca ble u p the for k leg, th rough a h ome-m ade ca ble gu ide u p to th e odometer itself. T he odomete r moun ts to the handlebar clamps with plen ty of room . We swapped the stock si lencer for a n Answer P roducts unit , wh ich is quieter a n d h as a U _S. The rules req uire a horn / bell a nd a ' m irr or on the bi ke, bu t say nothing about size or p lacemen t.
