A NEW 1986 BMW K100 Hare scrambles points leader Ed Lojak. Hare Scrambles (Continued from page 8) the creek LO catch a tiring Dave Fallas on the third lap. The two faced off for a lap and a half of tight racing before Fallas went down on the fifth loop. The race took a final dramaLic turn when the white fJagcameout for Ballard. He pulled into the Can-Am pits located 20 yards past the barrels, before starling his final lap. Lojak snuck by both his pits and the busy Ballard crew 15 seconds later. Lojak's discreet check-in went unnoticed by Ballard. Lojak scooted away, while Ballard eased through the final lap, looking over his shoulder for the Husky. A stunned Ballard took the checkers one minute behind Lojak. The last lap drama did nOl SLOp there. White starled the final goaround three and a half minutes up on Fredeue's KDX 200, but with victory in sight White's IT spuuered to a gas-less stop no more than a mile from horne. A surprised Fredeue moved around for the victory, while a disappointed White refueled in time to take the runner-up spot. A triumphant Lojak collected his champagne and trophy in the winner's circle, then praised his opponent while handing out the rest of the trophies. "Ballard was going so fast out there that I didn't even think I had a chance until after the pit stop," he said. An understandably disappointed Ballard said, "I carne into the final open area about a mile out on the last loop and really thought I had it won. I looked back and didn't see Eddie anywhere." • Results OVERALL: Ed Lojak (Husl. OPEN A: 1. Geoff Ballard (C-A): 2. Mark Hyde (Hus); 3. Stanley Lojak (Yam); 4. Tom Harris (Yam); S.
