Great inspiration While reading your March 5 issue, I came across an interesting quote in your coverage of the Atlanta Supercross: "I got a lot of the riff·raff out of my life this year, and I've found that religion has been a big help. God gave me a gift (an ability to ride a motorcycle) and I'm not going to waste it." I'm not nearly as far along as the rider ~ho said that, Ricky Johnson, but Wlth God's help I'm going a long way.. As a 20-year-ol~ road racer sup· porung my own raang career, I need all the help I can get. THOMAS STEVENS Cape Coral, FL No Santa Fe We have just learned that Santa Fe Speedway, located just outside of Chi~ago, Illinois, will not host professlOnal motorcycle races this year! For those that don't know about the Santa Fe short track. we hould expiam that they have been holdlOg pro races every Wednesday night (in eason) for the past 33 consecutive years: Their program is the longestrunnlOgweekly pro racing activity in the country. To our knowledge, it ~vas the only remaining weekly rac109 program. It is a sad day for the American sport of nat tracking. The only possible way we can see to alter these plans is for the AMA to take a high-profile role and initiate whatever extraordinary measures neces ary to prevent this devastating loss. We urge those that care to contact the AMA's Ed Youngblo
