FE B. 3 CR C moved dow n to Perri s to a fresh ly reworked trac k featuring severa l new tu rns. It wa s a lmost a new layout and the recent rains kept th e wa ter truck in th e garag e. T he l 25cc'P ro race was a breath tak er. Darr en Sharuga led a tight pack consis ting of Mike Kell, Matt Tedder, a nd J immy Palmer. By th e end of th e firs t fu ll lap , Sha ruga (Forest Lawn Cycle/Suzu ki ) and Kell (Gradon/ O 'Nea I/Suz uk i) had p ut a few bikelen gth s between themsel ves and th e Tedder/ Pa lmer ba tt le for third. Kell wa s h ungry a nd riding o n th e ragged edge, tryi ng to find a way a ro u nd Sharuga, wh o was staying coo l a nd in con trol. As the race wor e on , Kell was getting more a nd more . desp era te. H is fa vorite a tta ck spot was a low-speed tab le top, followed by a left-h and sweeper. H e wou ld come over th e j u mp to Sharuga 's ri gh t rear a nd try to sq ua re o ff th e tu rn , cu tti ng to th e left inside. Th e sweeper was hard , with a d usting o f sand. a nd this met hod of passing usuall y pu t Kell a lill ie o u t o f shape. At th e end of la p six, this Ben H ur pass in g style put Kell right under Sh aruga a nd th ey bo th went down, Ien in g T edd er a nd Palm er p ast. Sh aruga was pinned . Kell recovered fir st a nd went o n to tak e thi rd behind T edder a nd Pa lmer. Sharuga got up in last a nd fina ll y worked his way to fifth a t mo w 's end.
