Surprisingly, everyone else was so scra m b led that eig h th was good eno ug h for seco nd overa ll. Kevin Nea l a nd J ason Newman were in a ni p-and-bark tuss le right fro m the ga te in moto one of th e l25cc Intermedia te race . Newm an had moved to the lead by inches in lap two a nd cl u ng 10 it. Short ly after th e mi drace sign, Neal dropped h is bik e a nd fell ba ck as Mark Lap ora a nd SCOll Murphy m oved to second a nd third. M oto two saw Newm a n a nd Neal a t it aga in . T his ti m e it was New ma n 's turn 10 drop back a nd, onc e more, Lapora a n d Murphy were th ere 10 p ick u p th e p ieces. Steve Hen gerveld took both m oto s o f th e 60cc class, with Sha y McAlister on h is back every in ch of th e way . H ammond was back 10 win th e 0-8 d ivision o f th e 60s. H e just turned seven in December, so by th e tim e h e o u tgrows th a t d ivision, h e'll have had over two years exper ien ce and ca n be expected to dominate the 60s and probabl y the 80s. For th e m oment, th ough, a ll the 80s h ad to worry a bo u t was Intermedia te Dana Wiggin.' That was n o concern for m ost o f the m ; th e ga te drops a nd Bang l Wi ggin is gon e for th e chec kered a nd th e rest ca n race for seco n d. H e got th e h ol eshot in both motos of both th e 80cc Stoc k a nd th e 80cc Modified classes a nd all four wins as well. Kell and Sharuga were back a t it in th e 250cc Pro race, with Kell in th e lead from th e start. It was a no-quartergiven baule all the way . While they fought, Mall T edder was closing on them and, by lap four, it was a fast, hard, three-way fight. Sharuga pulled a spectacular triple jump at the beginning of lap six to take the lead. A few turns later, Tedder powered past Kell and moved right up on Sharuga. Tedder was on the gas and looking for an opening. He seemed a bit faster in the very rough stuff and hit the jumps harder.
