Norm Gale wins P'R Karter Busse rode to his third consecutive victory, sweeping the 60cc division, while Suzuki-mounted Brian Kromroy worked the inside line past heat winner Ro b McGee in the 80cc final. The sl ush and snow bank claimed a lot of victims in the 125cc final, but didn't affect Kawasaki -mounted Chad Bierle, who led flag-to-Ilag, defeating heat winner Frank Kaiser, Jim Bullock and Mike Addison. Surviving a barrage of flying cones was the key to success for 200cc winner Al Blu m, who also felt constant incentive fro m Ca n-Am-mounted runnerup Andy Minterlong. Don Waldbuesser and Tony Minterlong staged a race- long dice in the 250cc final. Waldbuesser clinched it on the last lap for the sweep as Jeff Wehrli, Ro b McGee and Tom Grasty rounded o u t the top five-. Open class heat winner Glen Salpaka saw red at the start of the fina l, or at least thought he did and the hesita tion cost him five positions. Meanwhile, second heat winner Jeff P icha, with a last-lap move characteristic of the day's racing, swept past a Tom Costello/Steve Swatscheno battle for the win. Yamaha-mounted Larry P ieko s p roduced a mistake-free ride from ' start to finis h in the Senior class , keeping Honda-mo u nted Tom Jacobs in second. Ga le went on to lead every lapon his Sam's Town, Nevada Yamaha and Kerker-sponsored FJ600. At the trophy presentation, Ga le gave all the credit to Bill Dal y, Dou ble Do wn 's chief tuner.
