The decision paid o ff, not in th e first co rner o f the Pro final , bu t a t th e finish aft er Bro wne used aggressive inside moves to edge past Mike Gilkey, then Yon job and Gruber to finish out front a nd remain undefeated. The Pa bst 250 Cha llenge ra ce saw H onda-m o u nt ed R icky squeak past brother Mark Gruber for th e first h eat win. while. aft er a two-year absence, G ilk ey took to the lead instinctivel y, winning the second h ea t. Gi lkey grabbed th e lead from Ma rk Gruber in the fin al to sweep th e Pa bst 250 Cha lle nge as Browne and Yo n jo b dropped G ruber to fourth. Mo istu re proved a problem for Pee Wee contender Justin Vanderwerf in the 50cc heat. "I let him down by not waterproofing, " .said his dad, but Vanderwerf came back strong in the final, edging heat win ner Brad Flament for the win. Winter Heat It was hot at the AMA Florida Winter Series this year. Applying the heat. MS Racing's own Guy Cooper who piloted his Honda to wins in the 1st and 3 Id rounds to take the 125 overall ti tie.
