LOOKING BACK
We featured Can-Am's 250 Qualifier enduro bike on the cover of Cycle
News 40 years ago. We tested the Can-Am by competing on it in three
ISDT Qualifier races... Broc Glover won the Superbowl of Motocross
IX doubleheader at the L.A. Coliseum. He started things off by winning
Saturday night and then again on Sunday afternoon with the course run in
the opposite direction... For the first time since 1974, motorcycles returned
to Pikes Peak. Lonnie Houtchins was the quickest to the top riding a
750cc Yamaha.

JULY 23, 1980
Local motocross racing was featured on the cover of Cycle News 50 years
ago. Dave Kribell was pictured from Bay Mare's "Grooviness Day" MX.
He won the 125cc Junior class... We ran an interview with off-road racer
Bud Ekins... We also interviewed Lynn Wilson, a mother of four, who held
down 10th place in the AMA/District-37 Desert Racing Championship...
Mert Lawwill won the TT National at Ascot.
