in event 26. Faria hung tough until
lap two . wh en Ford asse rted himself
a nd clea rl y took over the lead. Nelson
al so got by Faria, then plowed into
the turn-on e wall o n lap three, giving
secon d back to Faria. who was far
beh ind Ford.
For the main event, it was Canad ian Ford drawing th e pole a nd he
was o ff a nd into th e lead a t th e ri se of
the tapes. He took Brown, wh o was
out of two, wid e in th e first bend and
tha t was a ll it took. Brown stayed
close, but co u ld n' t ge t th e necessary
tract ion to tak e th e lead a nd was two
bik elengths back a t th e chec kered
flag. Wat son took home third-place
money, wi th La zor. un abl e to get
used to Nelson's Godden, in fourth .
