Mike Williams, (no relation to Ri ck ) left everyone in th e Stock Producti on C class a board hi s 600 Ni n ja. With n o co m pe titio n, Willia ms enterta ined himself by seein g h ow sideways he co u ld ge t while exiting slip pe ry turn 12. About half a lap back, Mi ch ael Ross, on hi s selfsponsore 550 Yam aha , held down the second spo t in C Stock. Stock B competit ion belonged to Rick T etrick on his FZ750 Yamaha . T etri ck a lso took home gold in Superstree t and Formu la One. T etrick taunted th e 10GlIs with , " If you want some of th ese (tro p h ies) back come on up to Denver." Stock A was a relatively un con tested cla ss as Greg Wing got some track time on hi s brand new GPzlOOO R from Motorcycle Marine. Th e Vintage cla ss hosted one of the best races of th e day betw een Craig Ski n ne r a nd j ohn Scott. both aboard Triumphs. The two were very even ly mat ched with Scott having a little more horsepow er down the straightaway a n d Skin ner th e edge in the turns. At the green flag it was Scott first into tu rn one, but b)' lap two Ski n ner was in first. Lap th ree saw th e lead cha nge aga in. In fact the lead woul d cha nge every lap of the IO-Iap event, with Skin ne r taking th e win . Th e Superstree t race was a very hecti c a ffair as Mike Williams go t the hol eshot in to th e first turn o n hi s 600 Ninj a, on ly to have th e Yamaha of Bob Sm ith put him into second. Sm ith was cha rgi ng o n hi s Fj600, but Will iams wo u ld n 't ta ke no for an a nswer and a ttemp ted a pass in the " S" tu rns, but thev mad e co ntact a nd both bi kes went down . T he corne r work ers were rig h t o n top of the acci dent un der the d irect io n o f Ch ief Ste ward Mik e Mahoney, wh o redflagged th e race . At the resta rt , Willie Adam s pulled a big lead o n Win g 's 1000R. Adam s went on to win Supe rstreet, but th ere was pl enty o f di cing go ing on behind him a s j eff Franks, Tim Bergstrom a nd T om Dahl debated first and second in Superstreet D. Randy Denza and David Wright went a t it all race lo n g even though th ey were in different classes. Th ere was a definite dog fight in Superstreet B among Brian Enos, Dennis Scull y and Rob Leatham, These three ch an ged positions several times during th e 10 laps. At th e checkered flag, Adams was first by a co nsidera ble margin in Superstr eet A. T etrick took th e win in Superstreet B with David Wright getting ' seco nd. Thi rd went to Brian Enos with Scu ll y a n d L eatham rounding out the top five. Superstreet D winner Franks had Bergstrom' a nd Dahl in to w at the checkered flag.
